Hello friends, welcome back! Today, I'd like to share another acrylic painting from my past work, created roughly between 2002 and 2007. This one is titled 『森の中で』 (Mori no Naka de), simply meaning "In the Forest." My intention with this piece was to capture that feeling of refreshment one finds in nature, specifically evoking the atmosphere of being deep within a forest, perhaps hearing the gentle, comforting sounds of flowing water nearby.

Take a look at this little world encapsulated within a large, rounded shape. It's filled with layers of green and blue circles, suggesting the dense foliage and perhaps the dappled light filtering through leaves. I imagined this as a personal, enclosed forest space, a sanctuary. The vertical lines and the flowing blue stripes at the bottom aim to represent the trees reaching high and the soothing murmur of a stream or brook – that lovely sound that instantly calms the mind. The bright red accents, like berries or mysterious forest fruits, add pops of colour and points of interest within the deep greens.
A small figure in bright yellow sits nestled within this forest haven. Perhaps they are listening intently to the sounds, breathing in the fresh air, and simply enjoying a moment of quiet escape and rejuvenation. The unique, almost lantern-like shapes rising from the top add a touch of fantasy, suggesting this might not be just any ordinary forest, but a place born from imagination. The textures created by the acrylic paint hopefully lend a tactile quality to the scene, making the forest feel more immersive.
For me, this illustration is about the healing power of nature, even an imagined one. It's about finding those moments to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with the peaceful rhythms of the natural world, letting the soothing sounds wash over you and refresh your spirit.
A Gentle Invitation for Your Reflection:
What sounds do you associate with being in a peaceful forest?
Where do you go (physically or in your mind) when you need to feel refreshed?
What small details in nature bring you a sense of calm or wonder?
Thank you for stepping into this little forest sanctuary with me today. I hope it brought you a moment of peace and reminded you of the simple beauty and restorative power found in nature's embrace.
Wishing you a refreshing day,
