Hello, and welcome!
Today, I’d like to share an illustration I created around 2008, titled “The Way Home.”
You might notice the influence of Friedensreich Hundertwasser in this piece, particularly in the vibrant colors and unconventional shapes that blend natural flow with structured geometry. At the time, his work fascinated me, and I found myself drawn to his philosophy of harmony between man-made and organic forms.
This illustration marks a unique moment in my creative journey. It was a time when I was deeply exploring the challenge of depicting three-dimensional forms entirely on a flat surface.
Looking back, I can’t help but feel that this piece reflects more than just a creative experiment—it carries a personal story as well.
Around this time, I was preparing to move from Tokyo to Okinawa. While I believe I created this work in Tokyo, the memory feels like a blur now.
As I reflect on the pathways in this artwork, they seem to simultaneously converge and diverge—perhaps symbolizing how the concept of “home” shifts depending on one’s perspective.
Is it the same path to return, or does it lead somewhere entirely new?
